What Makes a Bourbon?

Bourbon is America's native spirit — a whiskey that must be made in the USA from a grain mixture of at least 51% corn, aged in new charred oak barrels, and distilled to no more than 160 proof.

The result is a rich, complex spirit with notes of vanilla, caramel, oak, and spice. Whether you're a seasoned sipper or just getting started, our staff can help you find the perfect bottle — from approachable everyday pours to rare single barrels worth savoring.

51% Corn MinimumThe mash bill must contain at least 51% corn, giving bourbon its characteristic sweetness.

New Charred OakMust be aged in new, charred oak barrels — no reused barrels allowed for straight bourbon.

Made in the USABourbon must be produced in the United States. Kentucky produces about 95% of the world's supply.

No AdditivesOnly water may be added to adjust proof. No coloring, flavoring, or other additives permitted.
